Online Shopping and Coupon Codes

We were just shopping online and punching in a coupon code … which got us thinking how (1) paper coupons don’t seem to exist in Japan, and (2) even when shopping online, instead of coupon codes for discounts, there’s often a point system instead (the same as often found in-store), which effectively serves the same purpose. One catch for a point system is the points can’t be used until the next purchase or next day. We see examples of this with Amazon-style rebates in the form of coupon codes.

So what’s our favorite place to shop, for instance for books and office supplies in the U.S. using online coupons?

We are taking part in another paid blogging opportunity, this time reviewing Coupon Chief.com. In our opinion, this is one of the better sites we’ve come across given its order, ease of navigation, relevancy and no broken links encountered.

Our favorite online retailer for books is Amazon because of its broad selection, reviews and free/expedited shipping options. Aside from books, we’d like to say once we ordered some groceries and not long after a separate box arrived, a sort of gift from Amazon, full of goodies of all types — a pleasant surprise.

Our favorite online destination for office supplies is Staples. It also offers free shipping in most cases when meeting a certain order amount; as does Office Depot. We are happy with the selection and like avoiding having to drive to a store and shop for supplies. Sometimes we also use Office Depot. It all depends on what we need and a quick price comparison.
